Charlie Grows

Charlie Grows is a captain at the Yocha Dehe Fire Department. Charlie’s fire service career includes more than 35 years, beginning at age 16 with the Folsom Volunteer Fire Department, a four-year tour with the U.S. Air Force as a crash/structural firefighter, 28 years with the University of California Fire Department and presently with the Yocha Dehe Fire Department as a captain.

Charlie has operated and supervised crews on military crash/rescue trucks, civilian ladder trucks and engines. He has been involved in almost all aspects of the fire service: prevention, public education and suppression.

Charlie’s education and training include EMT 1, certified Fire Officer, Chief Officer, Fire Investigator I, Firefighter I and II, and hazardous materials specialist. He holds an associate’s degree in fire science and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and human resource management.
