Chuck Garton

Chuck Garton is a captain at the Yocha Dehe Fire Department. Chuck was born and raised in the Sacramento Valley area. He has always been active in team sports, such as baseball and basketball, and found the fire service to be a good fit for him because of the teamwork approach to accomplish goals and objectives.

In 1977 the West Sacramento Fire Department hired Chuck and for 28 years he worked his way through the ranks of firefighter, engineer, captain and acting division chief. He worked as a captain for West Sacramento for 15 years until he retired in 2004. He was then offered the opportunity to assist in building a new fire department with the Tribe and has been here ever since.

Outside of his work as a firefighter, Chuck was a drill instructor at the Sacramento Regional Academy, where he trained recruit firefighters in fire ground tasks, evolutions and operational tactics.
