Leland Kinter

Leland Kinter was born in Woodland and is a life-long Yolo County resident. He rejoined the Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation Tribal Council in January 2009 as tribal secretary after previously serving on the Council from 1994-1999. Leland is the chair of the Tribal Gaming Agency and the Cultural Committee, and is a member of the Yocha Dehe School Board, and the Property, Farm and Ranch Committee.

Leland has worked extensively in the gaming business and other fields that directly relate to the Tribe's enterprises. His hands-on experience brings a unique insider’s perspective to the Tribal Council.

Aside from his business experience, Leland shares his time with the community's children by teaching Patwin language classes at the Yocha Dehe Wintun Academy, which he believes is key to the resurgence of the Tribe's culture. His teachings allow the children to connect directly with their ancestral heritage.

Leland looks forward to his students completing their education and joining the Tribal Council—keeping Tribal pride, the Patwin language and the Yocha Dehe identity alive for future generations.
